Abstract
In the article, I presented the life of a boy with a deformed face. I focused my attention on the relations with his parents and sister as well as with the peer group. I drew attention to the importance of family support in the process of adapting a disabled person to life. By introducing Auggie’s relations with peers, I emphasized the way of children from stereotypical thinking to an open attitude toward the needs of the Other thanks to the ideas of “homeopathic” pedagogy. In the end, I included recommendations for Polish language teachers about the potential of Chbosky’s film in shaping attitudes of tolerance and empathy towards others.
