Abstract
This field guide by the late Prof Wallace S. Pitcher and by Dr Donny H.W. Hutton is a very welcome and significant addition to the large stock of publications and theses on this classical area in NW Ireland. It is produced in A4 format and has been made appropriately rugged, for field use, through the use of a heavy-gauge see-through plastic cover. The back cover pocket holds a copy of the famous 1972 all-colour geological map of NW and Central Donegal compiled by M.O. Spencer and W.S. Pitcher. This publication together with the map will share the same shelf as the classic The Geology of Donegal; A Study of Granite Emplacement and Unroofing by W.S. Pitcher and A.R.
