Abstract

The news of the death of Professor William Hume-Rothery, F Inst P, will have been received with great sorrow by many Members of the Institute and Society. He was a pioneer in the modern development of metallurgical science, and especially in relating the work of physicists interested in the electron theory of metals to that of metallurgists working on the structure of metals and alloys.
