Abstract

The aim of this study was evaluated the progress of shooting efficiency of elite biathletes fifteen years ago. Shooting efficiency was computed as a proportion of hit targets and number of fired cartridges during all races of World Cup. Values of shooting efficiency in each season were averaged and compared together. It was not able to characterize the shooting efficiency of men by any trend which can describe progress of shooting efficiency. In women category it was recorded progress of shooting efficiency apart from three last seasons. Most of medalists achieved the values of shooting efficiency about 84 – 85. Some biathletes can win with lower shooting efficiency cause of excellent cross country skiing performance. In the average the best three biathlete’s women extend to higher shooting efficiency than the best three biathletes. Shooting and physical performance of average ten elite men is more equaled than by women, probably it is the reason why biathletes have to shorten shooting velocity. Finally it can lead to decrease of shooting efficiency.
