Abstract

Vulvovaginitis is the most common gynaecological lesion seen in children, both in hospital clinic practice and in private office practice. The causes for this are multiple and one should seek the aetiology before therapy is instituted. The complete diagnostic workup done on some of the patients is outlined. However, we find the practical approach to vulvovaginitis in children which begins with simpler procedures and reserves the more complicated and expensive diagnostic procedure for later to be worthwhile. This works nicely in office practice in our hands.
