Abstract

A 64 year old female with pudendal neuralgia and no prior history of herpes zoster presented with 4 days of severe right-sided vulvar pain. Eleven days before, she underwent a bilateral transvaginal pudendal nerve block, which she had tolerated previously. At that time, there were no visible vulvar lesions. Upon presentation, her examination revealed a tender erythematous macular rash containing scattered 1-2 mm gray erosions on her right labium majus and minus, extending along the S3 dermatome to her medial thigh (Figures 1 and 2).
