Abstract

The patient is a 5-year-old girl, who presents to the emergency department with the complaint of vaginal bleeding after a fall. The patient was playing on the monkey bars, and, while racing with her brothers, she fell, striking the metal bars between her legs. She describes the bar as smooth with no areas of extension or spikes. The patient was observed by her brothers and the baby sitter when this happened. The patient went home, but the baby sitter noticed continued vaginal bleeding while bathing the girl and brought her to the emergency room.
