Abstract

After a brief review of the application of probability calculations to economics, the author suggests that the application of the mathematical theory of probabilities to all types of probabilities met with in economics is not possible, because an important category of probabilities in economics concerns irrational probabilities. Yet this category is of fundamental importance in economic life and represents, at the present time, a field of enquiry where further research is most urgently needed.
