Abstract

Abstract The sedimentary series of the coastal basin of Dahomey-Togo (west Africa) is known to have a thickness of about 700 meters. Overlying a Precambrian basement, it consists of a thick marine sequence from upper Cretaceous to middle Eocene, cut by faults. Several key horizons are established on the basis of microfaunas and argillaceous sedimentation. Comparisons can be made with other African basins on the basis of the paleontologic and sedimentologic criteria.
