Abstract
[The announcement of yet another computer industry consortium last September garnered its share of skepticism. Since then, the Virtual Socket Interface Alliance has incorporated, selected officers, established a Web site (www.vsi.org), and held its first meeting. IEEE Micro interviewed Douglas G. Fairbairn, alliance president and vice president of strategic programs at Cadence, to learn about the group's focus.—Ed.]
