Abstract

This article presents a groundbreaking, innovative 3D VR-based dual higher education project implemented by E.ON specialists. E.ON is one of the largest electric utility company in Europe. In order to deliver a truly practice-oriented Electrical Engineering training, the university’s teaching, methodological, and corporate experts have jointly developed a dual curriculum called “Energy Paths from Producer to Consumer,” which provides comprehensive knowledge to electrical engineering students. With a practical approach, using 3D IT solutions adapted to the new generation’s digital life, helping you acquire and capture diverse knowledge with the least amount of cognitive strain.The use of a VR learning environment, method and content is a win-win situation for all participants, as the learning material placed in the virtual learning space is accessible regardless of space and time, updatable and developable. The finished complex material is well suited for both academic subjects and the company’s internal corporate trainings program.As students see the processes in whole, they become more motivated and more efficient in acquiring the necessary professional knowledge by learning to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, with the help of Cognitive Infocommunication tools and solutions, reducing their cognitive burden and improving their academic performance.The corporate relations of the university are strengthened, and graduate students are better valued in the labor market, which in the long run improves the perception of higher education and schooling rates.
