Abstract

Using left and right ventricle global longitudinal strain (GLS) and right ventricle free wall strain (FWSt) evaluate cardiac systolic function in fetuses of mothers with overweight and obese. 80 patients underwent fetal echocardiography in Tangdu Hospital from June 2019 to February 2020 were included (30 normal pregnant women, 27 overweight pregnant women and 23 obese pregnant women). Regular and two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) were performed for evaluation of fetal cardiac structure and function. All the echocardiographic parameters were compared among groups. Compared with the fetus whose mother have normal BMI before pregnancy, the myocardial strain of the fetus in overweight pregnancy is decreased, and declining further in the obese group. 2D-STE can sensitively reflect fetal myocardial deformability and can be used as a new method to evaluate the changes of early fetal myocardial systolic function.
