Abstract

Last week, Vice President Kamala Harris convened attorneys general from seven states and the District of Columbia for a conversation about federal and state efforts to disrupt the illicit fentanyl supply chain, and at the same time expand access to care for individuals at risk of an overdose. Exactly why the AGs, but not state health officials, were included to discuss how to expand treatment was not clear, and when asked for an explanation, ADAW received merely a readout of the entire meeting. However, the vice president announced that almost $50 million would be awarded in grants by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) last week, as well.
