Abstract

Consonant sandhi in Coeur d'Alene (Cr) is relatively straightforward, involving principally the deletion of coronals and the coalescence of obstruents with following glottal stops.2 It is therefore quite easy to describe the morphophonemics of Cr consonants in just about any terms. However, the morphophonemics of Cr vowels is considerably more complex. In fact, certain problems in the analysis of Cr vowels have never been adequately resolved.
