Abstract

A vorticity field in two parallel counter-swirling submerged jets of viscous incompressible fluid is studied in laminar and turbulent regimes. A mechanism of a quadrupole longitudinal vorticity field generation under a confluence of two laminar jets into one is described. An analytical expression for a far-field of the longitudinal vorticity is obtained. Direct numerical simulation of two turbulent jets interaction is carried out. The invariants of the flows are constructed.A vorticity field in two parallel counter-swirling submerged jets of viscous incompressible fluid is studied in laminar and turbulent regimes.
