Abstract
The fluidic oscillator generates a sweeping jet with a high frequency and a large amplitude and is characterized by its capability for jet ejection over a wide range and for fluid oscillation by an internal structure. The sweeping jet from a fluidic oscillator has attracted attention as an active flow control device. Many studies on flow control techniques using a sweeping jet have been conducted. However, these studies focused on the characteristics of the dynamic forces acting on an airfoil in conjunction with a fluidic oscillator. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the detailed vortex structure generated by the interaction between the sweeping jet from the fluidic oscillator and the main flow. The detailed vortex structure produced by these interactions is visualized quantitatively by a stereo PIV measurement. The detailed vortex structure and the flow mechanism generated by these interactions are investigated.
