Abstract

In a superconducting strip in perpendicular dc magnetic field, the application of a weak ac magnetic field perpendicular to the dc field causes the irreversible currents to relax rapidly. This effect allows the reversible magnetic moment to be measured in spite of vortex pinning. It is explained for both transverse and longitudinal vortex shaking, when the ac field is transverse to or along the irreversible currents circulating in the strip.
