Abstract
A visual investigation of the flow structure in the near wake behind a transverse cylinder in a fluctuating flow is carried out. The experiments were performed on a special setup, on wide ranges of the frequencies and amplitudes of superimposed fluctuations. Characteristic flow patterns are revealed and the corresponding wake flow structures are described. On the basis of the generalization of the information obtained the flow pattern map is constructed.
