Abstract

Von Noorden's Atlas of Strabismusstill is one of the mainstays in textbook education in the field of strabismus. The third edition is improved over the second edition in that the clinical photos and illustrations have been greatly improved. The first chapter deals with anatomy and physiology of the extra ocular muscles, and is very similar to the second edition. The second chapter covers pseudostrabismus very succintly. In the third chapter, the qualitative diagnosis of strabismus, including the cover test and the cover/uncover test is very clearly demonstrated and explained. The fourth chapter deals with quantitative diagnosis of strabismus, including methods of measuring deviations, both objectively and subjectively. This area is covered similarly in the second edition. In the fifth chapter, evaluation of the sensory state is dealt with and covered in an extremely scientific way, and is very complete. The sixth chapter deals with evaluation of the motor state.
