Abstract

There have to be named mainly four epoques of linguistic import from Semitic languages into Germanic and German: prehistory transmitting the oriental legacy by the media of Greek and Latin; the influence of Jewish diaspora culture and of Christian mission in the Early Middle Ages; the time of close cultural contact between East and West since the crusades; last but not least the impact of Jiddish culture in Modern Times.
