Abstract
To report a case of rare complication of intestinal ascaris cap and highlight the benefits of deworming. Case: We report a case of perforated small intestine volvulus on ascaris plug. It was a 10 year old child whose history, clinical and paraclinical examination led to the diagnosis of small bowel obstruction by Ascaris plug. Intraoperative diagnosis was a perforated small intestin volvulus on ascaris plug. Resection and ileostomy were performed. The outcome wasfavorable and the patient was discharged on day 28, after the restoration of digestive continuity. Conclusion: The systematic deworming of school-aged children in endemic areas helps to avoid gastrointestinals complications which may be life-threatening.
