Abstract
In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the power of volunteerism and how strong it has made AWWA, AWWA Research Foundation, and Water For People after a legacy of 125 years of dedicated volunteer service. He gives statistics on the percentages of the gross domestic product of countries around the world that comes from volunteerism; in the United States, the volunteer workforce represents the equivalent of more than 9 million full‐time employees at an annual value of well more than $200 billion.
