Abstract
I was the general chair of the 2009 IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS) in Boston. At the time, the largest hotel chain in Boston was Starwood Hotels and Resorts. The Boston Sheraton, two Westins, and the Boston Park Plaza were all Starwood hotels. It was important for us to include these hotels in our housing block. Similarly, Starwood wanted us to include its hotels in our block since we would be the dominant event in Boston for an entire week.
