Abstract

The article deals with the volunteer movement in Ukraine during anti-terrorist operation of 2015-2016 years. It is emphasized that volunteer movement appears in cases when the state and existing institutions are not able to execute their certain tasks in full measure. It is shown that voluteers of ATO appeared when State authority displayed unsufficient ability to provide anti-terrorist operation on material and financial levels etc. The main reasons of why this movement appeared are noted. The reasons of the volunteer movement have been revealed: the breakdown of Military Forces of Ukraine in the beginning of 2014, lack of supply of clothes, food, personal protective equipment, medicines, transport and other resources for the army; elimination of logistic system of the supply for the military units and volunteer battalions. Activities of individual volunteer foundations and civil society organizations have been analyzed: the direct military aid; medical assistance to injured people and military hospitals in which injured militaries are being cured; material, psychological support and humanitarian aid for those who has been temporarily displaced, such as search for accomodation and work, adaptation in new society etc.; the use of such means as collecting money and other things, delivery of items collected in the military units to their place of deployment, to hospitals, to the families of servicemen; technical aid (repair, improvement, armouring of military equipment and the establishment of protection equipment and personnel of the Military Forces of Ukraine.Conclusions are drawn that this article will contribute to attracting attention to volunteer movements which are necessary in Ukraine at the modern stage of its development. The purpose of this article is scientifically grounded for the following research of not only volunteer activity, but also for new research of improvement of military equipment, fitting out with uniform etc.
