Abstract

Densities and viscosities of the binary mixtures of acetic acid with ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol were measured over the entire range of composition at five temperatures T = 303.15, 308.15, 313.15, 318.15, and 323.15 K. The excess molar volumes and viscosity deviations were calculated and fitted to the Redlich-Kister type polynomial equation. The viscosity data reported herein were used to examine the modeling capabilities of viscosity equations based on Eyring's absolute reaction rate theory and excess Gibbs free energy functions, namely, the Eyring-Van Laar, the Eyring-Scatchard and Hamer, and the Eyring-UNIQUAC equations. Some one-parameter models such as the Fang and He equation and the Grunberg and Nissan equation were also tested.
