Abstract

Depending on the solution conditions, complementary G-rich and C-rich strands from the promoter region of the c-MYC oncogene may adopt a range of conformational states including the duplex, G-quadruplex, i-motif, and coil states. In this work, we report data on changes in volume and adiabatic compressibility accompanying G-quadruplex formation by the G-rich strand from the promoter region of the c-MYC oncogene. We also report changes in volume and adiabatic compressibility accompanying duplex formation by the G-rich and C-rich strands which initially are in the coil, G-quadruplex (G-strand), or i-motif (C-strand) states.
