Abstract

Apparent molar volumes VΦ,DIL and viscosity B-coefficients of the dicationic ionic liquids (DILs) in {glucose (Glc)+water} solutions were determined from density and viscosity measurements at T=298.15K. Limiting apparent molar volumes VΦ,DIL0 of the DILs, volumetric interaction parameters, and activation energies ΔμDIL0≠ were also obtained, together with the contributions of the solvent property B1 and the dicationic ionic liquid–solvent interaction B2 to the B-coefficient. A linear relation was observed between VΦ,DIL0 and the number of methylene groups n(CH2) in the alkyl linkage chain of DILs. Volumetric interaction parameters and B2 values are positive and increase with increasing the length of alkyl linkage chain of the dication. The DIL–glucose interactions were discussed in terms of the size and solvation of the DILs and glucose.
