Abstract

Densities, ρ, speeds of sound, u, and viscosities, η, of ternary mixtures containing toluene, benzene and butyl acetate and binary mixtures formed by toluene and butyl acetate are reported in this paper. From experimental data, excess molar volumes, VE, isentropic compressibilities, κs, and excess isentropic compressibilities, , were evaluated. The calculated magnitudes were fitted to different equations available on the literature, and geometrical models have been used to predict ternary magnitudes from the binary ones. Furthermore, viscosities were predicted by group contribution models. The results have been discussed in terms of molecular interactions among the components of the mixtures.
