Abstract

To the Editor: Skin biopsies are frequently utilized to aid in the diagnosis of a variety of skin conditions. Despite substantial annual increases in skin biopsy volumes over the past decade,1 little data exist describing the distribution of biopsies performed.1 The implementation of revised Current Procedural Terminology codes in 2019 to specifically distinguish between tangential, punch, and incisional biopsies permits the improved characterization of skin biopsy patterns in the Medicare population.
