Abstract

The electrochemical characteristics of diethyltin dichloride on a platinum electrode were studied by cyclic voltammetry, rotating disk electrode and other methods. The results show that Et2SnCl2 can catalyze the reduction of nitrate and nitrite. The over-potential for the reduction of nitrate and nitrite on the modified electrode dropped significantly. The catalytic kinetics of the electrode were also studied. The proposed method can be used to determine nitrate and nitrite simultaneously in waste water.
