Abstract

Recently voltage instability is one of the crucial issues in the heavily stressed and large interconnected power system. This paper proposes a study of Voltage Stability Constrained Optimal Power Flow (VSC-OPF) using a new bus voltage stability index named P-index. It has been concluded that VSC-OPF with the inclusion of P-index as an inequality constraint results in enhancement of static voltage stability and also reduction in active power losses of the system compared to conventional Optimal Power Flow. The proposed VSC-OPF is tested on IEEE 14 bus test system. OPF results are validated with that of MATPOWER for the IEEE 14 bus system.
