Abstract
For the last two decades the rapid increase in power demands in China, stressed thetransmission and generation close to the security limits. In addition, the national interconnection and power sector restructure are also presenting challenges to power system security and stability. Combined with economic development, extreme high load increasing rate, long distance power transmission and HVDC links in recent years, voltage instability problem have drawn much attention than ever before. In this paper, the revised power system stability criteria related with voltage stability are presented. Philosophies and preventive control are introduced. Difficulties and unfavorable trends are presented and discussed.
