Abstract

Today power system demand is increasing. In recent year power degraded at distribution side. Power loss is increasing at consumer side due to more uses of non-linear load. Power quality issues created by sensitive load. In this paper modified UPQC device used for reduce voltage distortion. This FACT device helps to improve power quality it become reliable electricity. On the load side, the voltage and current distortion increase when the power decreases. It badly affected on power factor. A unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) used to reduce problems related to voltage and current. The active power filter(APF) are used make distortion free current also voltage. UPQC has Series APF and shunt APF which are simultaneously acting. Series APF work for balancing voltage and shunt APF work for balancing current at load side. In this topology, three leg voltage source inverter (VSI) is used to avoid switching losses. Two VSI connected back to back. UPQC avoid voltage sag or swell, harmonics at load side. It Compensates current and voltage as per requirement at distribution side. It conducted two operations at a time so it's advantageous. In this paper Simulation study carried out with MATLAB 2016a.
