Abstract

AbstractThe essential oil Scutellaria lateriflora L. (Labiatae) growing wild in northern Iran obtained by hydrodistillation was investigated using TLC, LSC, GLC, and GLC‐MS methods. The oil is mainly composed of sesquiterpenes (78.3%) of which τ‐cadinene (27%), calamenene (15.2%), β‐elemene (9.2%), α‐cubebene (4.2%), and α‐humulene (4.2%) are the major components. At least 73 compounds were present in the oil. Non‐terpenoid constituents were found in low concentrations.
