Abstract

This book is an integrated and well-documented work dealing with voice problems of children. In the author's review he conservatively estimates that approximately 11/2 million children in the United States have various types of voice problems. He again estimates that about half of these children will require an intervention program of voice therapy. The others will require medical, surgical, psychological, and/or psychiatric attention. The author's primary purpose in writing the book is for use in training speech clinicians but it was also designed to be used by practicing speech clinicians in various schools, colleges, university clinics, hospitals, and the community as well as by clinicians in private practice. It is the opinion of this reviewer that the book well serves its intended purpose.
