Abstract
The quality of education in general, and vocational education, depends on the level of vocational competencies possessed by teachers. A qualified teacher is a prerequisite for increasing the effectiveness of education and raising the level of knowledge and skills of students. Therefore, the current study revealed the degree of possession of technological competencies by vocational education teachers from their viewpoint in Jordan. To achieve the aim of the study, the descriptive survey method was used. The Beliefs scale, consisting of 10 main competencies, was built after verifying the indications of its validity and reliability. The scale was applied to a sample of vocational and technical education teachers (57) in secondary schools in the Irbid Governorate in Jordan. The results showed that the degree of technical and vocational education teachers' possession of technological competencies was low. The results also showed no statistically significant differences in the degree of possession of technological competencies among vocational and technical education teachers at the secondary level in Jordan due to the variables of gender, educational qualification, and experience.
