Abstract

The report is aimed at the problem of social intelligence of teachers. Social intelligence is examined in the context of the selected characteristics of teachers in relation with the perception of their position in the school social context on the level of self-evaluation and evaluation by colleagues and students. In the report we present the findings we acquired by using the SIPS questionnaire (Solution of Interpersonal Problem-Oriented Situations) (Baumgartner, Frankovský, 2004). The methodology is based on the application of situational approach where the aspect of behaving in a certain situation is accentuated. In the context of solving the given aims and issues we also used the methodology for social intelligence, the TSIS - Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (Silvera, Martinussen, Dahl, 2001). The questionnaire is divided into three subscales and it enables the specification of three factors: social information processing, social skills, and social awareness, which are very essential for teachers.
