Abstract
The three-parameter cubic equation of state previously proposed for polar fluids and fluid mixtures by Iwai et al. has been refined for its determination of the pure component parameters, and used to correlate the vapor-liquid equilibrium values for 15 1-alkanol + n-alkane mixtures. Three different mixing rules were used for obtaining the parameter “a” for mixtures. The results obtained from bubble-point calculations are compared with those obtained with the Peng-Robinson equation and the Trebble-Bishnoi equation. The proposed approach together with the mixing rule proposed by Schwartzentruber et al. yielded the lowest deviations in the calculated total pressures and vapor compositions.
