Abstract
Aim: to know the experiences/strategies of HIV, seropositive mothers accompanied in Specialized Care Service, Canoas/RS, after the birth of their children born between July 2011 and August 2012. Method: this is a descriptive exploratory study with qualitative method. Ten women were interviewed in Specialized Care Service. Results: the data were analyzed by content analysis method, resulting in four thematic categories: Diagnosis moment; Disclosure of diagnosis; Cares with their Children and with their own health. Conclusion: women still live with feelings of pain, blame and remorse for putting their children’s life in danger. They are afraid of the possibility of their death, because, in this case, the children could be lonely and have no care. develop practices of care for themselves and their children
