Abstract

The following survey of the mouse character in children's literature will be helpful to librarians who wish to feature a mouse‐in‐literature theme in their children's library, or to incorporate the mouse into a display that uses various animal characters. For a ‘Mouse Week (or month)’ emphasis, the librarian should plan to include: tables for children's own illustrations and story writing, to be displayed as part of ‘Mouse Week'; special mice story‐times; mime or brief improvisation; Beatrix Potter to other videos if permitted for use. This survey does not attempt to offer a definitive list but covers some interesting and important works in a chronological order.
