Abstract
Objective To study the clinical effect of the vitreoretinal surgery for severe open globe injury.Methods All the 9 eyes of 9 cases were severe open globe injury,with scleral laceration.First,the patients underwent emergency suture of eyeball wounds after injury.The standard triple route vitreoretinal surgeries through pars plans were done after 9-14 days.Results The postoperative visual acuities of 8 patients improved in different degrees.Atrophy of eyeball occurred in one patient lately and enucleation and hydroxyapatite implantation was performed.Two cases appeared low intraocular pressure (5-9 mmHg) (1 mmHg =0.133 kPa) and atrophy of eyeball in different degrees after surgery,but the visual acuity were light perception.Conclusion Vitreoretinal surgery can effectively save the injured eye and restore useful vision.Surgical timing and operation skills are particularly important.
