Abstract
Vitiligo has been known to occur with several endocrinologic conditions. Acromegaly is associated with hyperpigmentation of the skin but has not, to our knowledge, been reported to occur with vitiligo. We report an unusual case of typical vitiligo with hypersecretion of growth hormone. <h3>Report of a Case</h3> A 67-year-old man was admitted to Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, for the evaluation of typical symptoms and signs of acromegaly. The patient had a 40-year history of progressive symmetrical depigmentation of the extremities and head. He denied a history of autoimmune disease or exposure to phenols or other depigmenting chemicals. Skin examination disclosed symmetrical depigmentation of the hands, forearms, and feet, as well as the vertex of the scalp. The patient had an enlarged supraorbital ridge bilaterally, temporal wasting, a large nose, and a prominent jaw (Figure). The diagnosis of acromegaly was confirmed by an intravenous glucose tolerance test and a computed tomographic scan
