Abstract

To the Editor. —In the September 1965 issue of theArchives(91:456) there is published an article entitled Patent Vitello-Intestinal Duct With Ileal Prolapse by Drs. Elebute and RansomeKuti. I would like to add a brief addition to their report by the following summary of a similar case treated at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, India. A two-month-old female child was admitted to the Christian Medical College and Hospital on Sept 11, 1963. About ten days after birth, the parents noted a reddish swelling at the umbilical area. This was treated by various applications until it burst three days prior to admission discharging pus and feces. The size of the swelling had varied during the six weeks before admission. On examination the child weighed nine pounds. Abnormalities were limited to the umbilical area which was swollen and reddened. About five inches of ileum were lying intussuscepted outside the
