Abstract

Because vitamin E is widely available, dietary deficiency is unusual in humans. Except in case of severe malnutrition, vitamin E deficiency is the consequence of paediatric enteric disorders leading to chronic malabsorption. Patients may develop pseudo-Friedrich ataxia. Others may suffer from myenteric neuronopathy with lipofuscin deposits (brown-bowel syndrome) et peristaltic signs.
