Abstract

The electrochemical low-cost sensors for the quantitative analysis of toxic and explosive gases in workplace air are being reported. The sensors are of voltammetric (galvanic) type based on proton conductive solid-state electrolyte with high conductivity at an ambient temperature and are fabricated as pellets with the dimensions 12 × 5 mm. The implementation of macrocyclic cobalt(III) complexes with different ligands as the counter electrode materials allows the development of the sensors with good output linearity, stability and high selectivity towards the gases measured, and long operating lifetime, up to several years.
