Abstract

The study of terrorism has long been a hot topic for scholars around the world, and various gun-related, terrorism-related, and violence-related activities in North America have fostered terrorist activities in the region. In this paper, we first collect data on terrorist activities in North America using GTD, and then study two network models of "time-country" and “attack type-target type” by using UCINET and SVD indicators. From the data results, we can see that terrorist activities in North America are characterized by active, geographically purposeful and mainly armed attacks, and propose corresponding counter-terrorism strategies to provide theoretical help for the future fight against terrorism in the region.
