Abstract
Inside the T4 capsid, negatively stained DNA threads of no larger than 2.5 nm in diameter were observed in arcs of concentric circles or in parallel longitudinal arrays. The images of these regular structures changed with the particular relation of the tilting of the specimen, suggesting the coaxial spool of DNA packing.
