Abstract
The application of artificial intelligence technology in higher education has study value and study space. The study mainly used core data collection of the Web of Science database based on SSCI and SCI journals and based on “artificial intelligence” and “higher education” these two subjects retrieval for 2009 to 2019. In addition, It used keyword co-occurrence function and cluster analysis function of CiteSpace Knowledge Graph software for visualization analysis and detailed analysis of study hotspots. The study elaborated on the application of artificial intelligence technology in higher education, and gained study hotspots such as machine learning, augmented reality, and learning management systems, and briefly discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on higher education.
Highlights
Artificial intelligence (AI) has exerted an enormous impact on various fields in society
We found that AI technologies currently in use include: machine learning, neural networks, AI-based data mining, and virtual reality, and that intelligence inspired by the brain is the development direction of AI, which is likely to apply to the higher education field in the future
We analyzed the data based on SSCI and SCI journals which are collected from the core data collection of the Web of Science (WOS) database, and the retrieval of the topics include: “artificial intelligence” and “higher education”
Summary
Artificial intelligence (AI) has exerted an enormous impact on various fields in society. AI has exerted a considerable impact on higher education and is undoubtedly one of the leading technologies to promote both the overall quality and instructional innovation of universities. In this context, higher education is influenced by AI in many aspects, and the two major areas are curricula and enrollment [2]. AI applied in higher education has become a reality [3,4] It is not developed enough, and its application in higher education is not widespread [5]. In order to further discuss, the article aims to review the current AI technologies in higher education in the ten years from 2009 to 2019.
