Abstract

This paper concerns an international and interdisciplinary research project accomplished during the 2010 summer school at Riga Technical University (RTU). The project’s overall aim was the cartographic visualisation of intimate perceptions of space in Bolderāja, a socially and economically problematic Riga district. Here, the international project participants as well as some locals were asked to represent Bolderāja’s topography from their individual perspectives. The paper shows the workflow and, especially, the results of this case study, which is to be seen as a specific variety of cognitive mapping.
