Abstract

As nodes of urban road network, intersections greatly affect urban traffic jam. In this paper, we study visualization methods for time-varying intersection traffic flow data. For transient data, data transformation and visualization methods are proposed based on linear layout and radial layout. For summary data, data transformation method based on sliding window model is presented at first, and then visualization method based on multiple attribute axes is constructed. Furthermore, scatter diagrams are exploited for analyzing qualitative relationship between pair of parameters of traffic flow. Experiments results on real-world traffic data of Beijing city show that the proposed methods are effective.
